Dr. Geneva lives and works on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Peoples. She pays respect to Elders past, present, and the seven generations yet to come as we attempt to work toward decolonization and healing for Mother Earth and her inhabitants. It’s important to acknowledge the land because Indigenous people are often referred to in the past tense and it is easier to deny Indigenous people their rights if we historicize their struggles and continue to pretend they don’t exist. Dr. Geneva supports LANDBACK efforts.
